And on to the Top 10!

10. K. Flay – Inside Voices EP/Outside Voices EP

Double the EP goodness from K. Flay in 2021. Twice the alterna-rap fun!

9. Debt Neglector – Dirty Water

Something in that Orlando water really bumped this batch of punk ditties up a notch. This one was a welcome jolt of energy to get me out my ‘Rona funk.

8. Dead Sara – Ain’t It Tragic

While Pleasure To Meet You may still be my favorite full-length from these L.A. rockers, this album is quickly becoming another strong contender for the throne.

7. NOFX – Single Album

Their outing last year with Frank Turner rekindled my love for NOFX, and this is a solid addition to their collection.

6. Courtney Barnett – Things Take Time, Take Time

I love this Australian songstress’ voice (and sarcasm) SOOO much. The only thing that could make me happier would be a full tour of the states with her sometimes partner-un-crime Kurt Vile,

5. Little Simz – Sometimes I Might Be Introvert

Something about British rappers is SO appealing to me, and Little Simz just gets better with each release. (And if I could somehow get Lady Sovereign to come out of retirement to do a tour with Little Simz, maybe Shystie…I might even travel over the pond for that one.)

4. Calva Louise – Euphoric

The sophomore album from this Manchester-based trio shows no signs of a slump, with its multilingual grungy punk tempered with positively danceable beats. And to see the shots of Venezuelan vocalist Jess Allanic rocking some of the new tracks live, sweat dripping, playing right in the middle of the audience? Hot DAMN I need to see this band live once the world doesn’t suck quite so hard.

3. Teenage Bigfoot – Weapons Against Darkness (full-length) & Green Day Tribute EP

Can I 100% understand what their self-branding as “bisexual party punk” on their Bandcamp page equates to as a genre? No. Do I love them to the moon and back because they have a cryptid/horror nod in their name AND räwk exceptionally hard? Hells yes. (Extra points for their exclusive Bandcamp duo of Green Day covers released earlier in the year.)

2. Big D & the Kids Table – Do Your Art

To be fair, these ska-punkers from Boston will always be near the top of my list. But with Damn good reason!

1. The Muslims – Fuck These Fuckin Fascists

I am in love with this album. It has all the punk anger and energy that you could ever hope for, wrapped up in a big bow made of sarcasm and witty humor. I’d throw this on at work, and I could feel the cathartic effects wash over me. And by the last song, I would always laugh and say “Ha…teabagging the president.”. If you don’t understand, just give this one a listen – soooo good.
